KENDRA AICHELE

About
Hello.
I'm Kendra
As someone who is greatly affected by their environment and the aesthetics of their surroundings, it is my goal to make every environment I create beautiful and functional. Every space should be inspiring and pleasing to the eye. I love and appreciate many different styles and have found that natural sunlight is one of the most important things in designing a space. My goal is to bring life, energy, and functionality into every environment I work with, and in doing so, I hope to improve the lives of the people in these spaces.

Born and raised in Canada on an acreage outside of Calgary, I grew up surrounded by the rugged beauty of both the rolling Alberta foothills and the Rocky Mountains. My parents both came from agricultural backgrounds and taught me to love gardening and yard work and to appreciate the outdoors as well as the beauty of nature and animals. I have always had an artistic touch and have an appreciation for beautiful things and places.
I entered post-secondary to study Fine Arts in 2002 but quickly realized that I was more fascinated by art history and architecture. In 2007 I graduated from the University of Calgary with a major in art history and a minor in business. With a lack of job opportunities in Calgary for art history graduates I began to take accounting courses at Mount Royal University while working for a local accounting firm. I've always enjoyed numbers and problem solving so accounting was an easy choice subject for me to pursue especially with my business background.
My husband and I moved to Dallas, Texas in 2009 where I began to dabble in interior design at a local community college. My experience there led me to pursue an AAS Degree and an Advanced Technical Certificate in Interior Design at El Centro College. I graduated in the spring of 2014 and while attending El Centro I received the Most Outstanding Student of the Year award three years in a row and served on the ASID Student Chapter as Treasurer. As a student I worked with programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Photoshop and my work has been published in an ASID Access magazine and featured at NeoCon. Professionally, I have had experience in tenant development, residential, and restaurant design. I thoroughly enjoy the problem solving aspects of interior design my strengths being space planning, programming, and producing renderings in Revit and Photoshop.
